Expert-Led, In-Depth Autism Assessments for Children

What is the Comprehensive Diagnostic Autism Assessment?
Our Comprehensive Diagnostic Autism Assessment is an evidence-based, structured assessment conducted by highly qualified multi-disciplinary teams in alignment with international best practices. This detailed process includes a structured parent interview (ADI-R) and a play-based observation (ADOS-2) with your child/young person designed to meet standards set by the HSE and Department of Education. Depending on the child’s needs, a cognitive or developmental assessment, adaptive behaviour evaluation, or school observation may also be recommended to gain a full understanding of the child’s abilities and needs.

Who Benefits from a Diagnostic Autism Assessment?
This assessment is ideal for:

  • Children Suspected of Autism: Providing a clear diagnosis to help understand the child’s needs in communication, social interaction, and learning.
  • Parents and Caregivers: Offering insights into the child’s strengths and areas for support.
  • Educators and Health Professionals: Helping teachers and therapists support the child effectively in academic and social settings.

What to Expect

  1. Initial Consultation and Information Gathering: We start by requesting information from parents and, with consent, from the child’s school or creche. This input from familiar settings is crucial for a complete assessment.
  2. Developmental History Discussion: We schedule a session—at our center or online—to discuss the child’s developmental milestones and family’s concerns.
  3. Play-Based Assessment: The child completes a structured, play-based assessment at our center, where our team observes their communication, social interaction, and play behaviours in a comfortable setting.
  4. Optional Cognitive Assessment: When necessary, a cognitive assessment may be conducted to provide a comprehensive view of the child’s learning profile, which can be beneficial for educational planning and autism-specific supports.
  5. Final Consultation and Reporting: After the assessment, we meet with parents to discuss our observations, with a full report issued approximately six weeks after completion.
